Privacy Policy
Last updated 2 October 2026
SparkSheet is operated by Peak Electrical Contracting Ltd in Victoria, British Columbia. This policy explains what we collect, why, where it is kept, and what you can ask us to do with it. It follows Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act.
The short version: we store the work you put into SparkSheet so you can get it back, we keep a small amount of usage data so we know which tools are worth improving, and we do not sell anything to anyone.
What we collect
Your account
Your email address, and your password in hashed form. If you sign in with Google we receive your email address and name from Google, not your Google password.
If you sign in with Apple we receive your email address, or a private relay address if you choose to hide yours, and your name. We never see your Apple password. We keep the sign-in token Apple gives us only so we can remove SparkSheet from your Apple ID if you delete your account.
Your company profile
Whatever you choose to enter: company name, licence number, phone, address and logo. This is optional, and it exists so it can be printed on the documents you generate.
Your work
The files you create or upload, and the job and client labels you attach to them. Plans, photos, calculations, panel schedules, notes and PDFs.
Job and client names are deliberately kept out of our usage analytics. Those are your customers' names and addresses, not ours to collect. They are stored only on the file record in your own account, protected by the same access rules as the file itself.
Usage data
We record events such as signing in, opening a tool, generating a document and hitting an error. Each event carries the tool name and a timestamp. Any extra detail is limited to a fixed list of technical fields: file size, a count, a duration, a location in the code, an error message, a kind and a source. Anything not on that list is discarded before it is sent, by design rather than by policy.
Payment information
We never see or store your card. Payments go through Paddle, who act as the merchant of record. We receive from Paddle only what we need to know whether your subscription is active: a subscription identifier, its status and its renewal date.
Where your data is kept
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Accounts, company profile, file records, usage events | Supabase, Canada Central region |
| Files, photos and documents | Cloudflare, distributed across their global network |
| Payment and billing records | Paddle |
To be straightforward about it: the database sits in Canada, but the file storage does not have a Canada-only option. Your uploaded files may be stored or served from outside Canada. If your work is subject to a rule requiring Canadian-only storage, please check before you rely on SparkSheet for it.
Who else is involved
We use a small number of providers to run the service. They process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Accounts, sign-in and database |
| Cloudflare | Hosting and file storage |
| Paddle | Payments, invoices and sales tax |
| Only if you choose to sign in with Google | |
| Apple | Only if you choose to sign in with Apple |
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We may disclose information if the law requires it, and we will tell you unless we are prevented from doing so.
How it is protected
Traffic is encrypted in transit. Files are held in private storage and are not publicly listable. Access rules are enforced by the database itself, so one account cannot read another account's rows even if the application has a bug.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your information we will notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.
Crew accounts
If your employer invites you to their SparkSheet company, the work you do in it belongs to that company account and the account owner can see it. Your email address is visible to them. This is the same as any work account.
How long we keep it
Your content is kept while your account is open. If you delete your account we remove your content, and backups age out within 30 days. Usage events are kept for two years in a form tied to your account, and billing records are kept as long as tax law requires, which in Canada is six years.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you
- correct anything that is wrong
- delete your account and its content
- send you a copy of your data in a portable form
- stop sending you non-essential email
Email info@sparksheet.ca and we will respond within 30 days. Most of this you can do yourself from within the app.
If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Delete your account
In the app or on sparksheet.ca, open Account, choose Delete account and type DELETE to confirm. Your login is deleted, and so is your company with its jobs, clients, notes, photos and files (a company with other people in it stays with them). Any plan is cancelled. If you signed in with Apple, SparkSheet is also removed from your Apple ID.
You can also email info@sparksheet.ca from your account's email address and we will delete it for you.
Billing records are kept for six years, as Canadian tax law requires. Backups age out within 30 days.
Cookies
SparkSheet uses browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences and your unsent work. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and there is no third party analytics script on the site.
Children
SparkSheet is for businesses. It is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for significant changes we will tell you by email or in the app.
